15 Illegal Structures Demolished in Anantnag’s Drug Crackdown

The District Administration in Anantnag has escalated its crackdown on drug peddlers and violators of the NDPS Act by demolishing 15 illegal structures during a significant enforcement operation at Waghama in Bijbehara on Saturday. This action forms part of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign, designed to dismantle narcotics networks and eradicate illegal assets associated with drug trafficking.

Officials reported that a joint operation was conducted, involving revenue authorities and the police department. Together, they demolished structures, which included 15 shops illegally constructed on State and Kahcharai land, specifically in Khasra Nos. 2494 (min) and 2495 (min) located in Estate Waghama. These structures have ties to individuals who are implicated in cases governed by the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The operation also successfully retrieved encroached State and Kahcharai land, marking a vital step in reclaiming public property from illegal occupation. The enforcement initiative resulted in significant victories against drug peddling activities, sending a clear message to violators.

Reaffirming its dedication to combating drug abuse, the District Administration stated that it will maintain a strict and sustained approach towards drug peddlers, narcotics networks, and illegal encroachments throughout the campaign. Officials underscored that dismantling illegal properties linked to the drug trade plays a critical role in severing the supply chain of narcotics within the district.

In a statement, a representative of the administration emphasized, “Our zero-tolerance policy ensures that anyone found engaging in drug-related activities or illegal encroachments will face stringent legal repercussions.” This proclamation aligns with the aggressive stance taken under the Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign, positioning authorities as determined and proactive.

The campaign aims not only for immediate enforcement but also longer-term social change. Enhancing community awareness and promoting legal activities is vital to eradicating the influence of drugs. By reclaiming public land and dismantling illegal structures, the administration demonstrates its commitment to a safer and healthier environment.

The recent operations reflect the united efforts of law enforcement, local governance, and community cooperation in the fight against drug abuse and illegal land occupation. Observers note that such initiatives are crucial as Jammu and Kashmir intensifies its attempt to create a drug-free society.

The Waghama operation illustrates how local administrations aim to restore order by tackling illegal activities head-on. As more such actions unfold, the administration hopes to inspire confidence among citizens about their safety and well-being. Continuous efforts to uphold law and order in Anantnag show positive prospects for a future less threatened by drug-related crimes.
