This landmark event took place on September 24 at F-1/8C, Trikuta Shopping Complex, B.C. Road, Jammu. Dr. Tahir Rufayee, Chairman of NFJM, led the inauguration ceremony, attended by notable media professionals, journalists, and local citizens.
“This Press & Media Centre will serve as a hub for fair reporting, informed public engagement, and responsible journalism,” Dr. Rufayee stated during his keynote address. He further highlighted NFJM’s commitment to idealistic journalistic values, proclaiming, “With our new facility, we aim to strengthen democratic values through truthful and ethical media practices.”
The newly inaugurated Press & Media Centre aims to empower journalists and media practitioners to uphold transparency, accountability, and ethical journalism standards. It seeks to create a professional environment fostering collaboration among media professionals.
Facilities available at this Centre includes News Reporting & Publications, Press Conferences, Media Briefings, Research & Analysis, and Public Engagements. Such resources will facilitate a more cohesive and informed interaction between journalists and the public.
This initiative, led by S.Harjeet Singh under the auspices of NFJM, responds to the growing demand for a structured platform promoting responsible journalism. By establishing this Centre, NFJM aspires to contribute significantly to the local media culture and beyond.
Jammu’s landscape now stands transformed with the introduction of this valued Centre, promoting not only the journalism profession but also fostering an environment of informed discussions in society. As Dr. Rufayee emphasized, “With collective efforts in media ethics, we can enhance the public’s trust in journalism.”
Through the establishment of this Centre, NFJM demonstrates a proactive approach to enrich the quality of information disseminated to the public. It reflects a visionary step towards journalism that prioritizes integrity and accountability in reporting.
As local media continues to evolve, initiatives like the NFJM Press & Media Centre could mark the beginning of a new era for journalism in Jammu, which may serve as a model for other regions across India.
