In a stark warning, Ashok Yadav, Inspector General of BSF Kashmir Frontier, confirmed on Saturday that terrorists are currently assembled at launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) with intentions to infiltrate the Kashmir Valley. The alertness and preparedness of security forces stand crucial in preventing any such attempts.
Yadav addressed the press, highlighting the seasonal pattern of infiltration attempts. He shared that the number of attempts typically increases before the winter snowfall.
“There are always attempts to infiltrate before snowfall. We have approximately two months before the weather changes, and the likelihood of infiltration remains high until November,” Yadav stated. He underscored that militants are aware their opportunities will diminish for the following six months, and thus make concentrated efforts to breach the border security during this time.
The BSF IG revealed the presence of terrorist groups at launch pads situated across the LoC, particularly in the Bandipora and Kupwara sectors. “They await suitable conditions to infiltrate,” Yadav commented, adding, “Our security measures remain stringent. Sometimes adversaries wait for adverse weather conditions to move, which makes thwarting their attempts even more critical.”
Ensuring maximum vigilance, Yadav reiterated that both the Army and BSF collaborate closely, utilizing advanced surveillance techniques to dominate the area effectively. “Together, we maintain a solid grip on the LoC. This year, we successfully thwarted two infiltration attempts. The alertness with which we conduct operations, alongside state-of-the-art surveillance systems, makes unauthorized entries challenging,” the BSF IG affirmed.
The proactive stance of security forces aims to continuously disrupt any plans by terrorist elements targeting the Kashmir region. With winter approaching, vigilance remains paramount as BSF and allied forces work tirelessly to protect the integrity of the nation’s borders.
