The Delhi Police arrested two wanted criminals linked to foreign-based gangsters during an encounter in the Kapashera area on Friday. This operation underscores the increasing threat posed by inter-state crime syndicates.
The suspects, identified as Akash Rajput and Mahipal, hail from Rajasthan. Police reports indicate that Rajput is wanted for his involvement in multiple extortion and kidnapping cases across Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Authorities have even issued a ₹20,000 bounty for his capture.
According to police statements, Rajput played a significant role in the July 2022 shooting outside a hospital in Assandh, Karnal, commissioned by the notorious gangster Daler Kotia. Furthermore, he is wanted in connection with a high-profile kidnapping case in July 2025 in Gujarat. Gangster Kirit Singh Jhala, who demanded ₹100 crore ransom, orchestrated that abduction.
Investigators revealed that Kirit Singh Jhala recently joined forces with notorious gangsters like Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virender Charan. This collaboration signifies a troubling trend of expanding gang networks across regions. Mahipal, earlier arrested in connection with the Karnal firing case and released on bail, has since become reinvolved in this dangerous nexus.
During the confrontation in Kapashera, Rajput sustained a bullet wound to his lower body. Authorities quickly rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police have initiated a wider investigation to uncover further connections within this criminal network.
Delhi Police aim to dismantle such syndicates actively operating in northern India. This incident not only highlights ongoing criminal activities but also emphasizes the need for enhanced inter-state cooperation in law enforcement.
As crime rates spike in various pockets of the nation, the authorities remain vigilant. In recent weeks, the Delhi Police have intensified their efforts to combat organized crime and illegal activities. They are working closely with other state police departments in an attempt to tackle this growing menace.
The arrests of Rajput and Mahipal mark a significant breakthrough in police efforts. The Delhi Police urge residents to stay alert and report any suspected criminal activities, enhancing community policing efforts against organized crime.
