Doda Police Cracks Motorcycle Theft Case Within 48 Hours

Doda Police demonstrated exceptional efficiency by cracking a motorcycle theft case within 48 hours, arresting two suspects and recovering the stolen vehicle. The incident occurred on November 5, 2025, in the Jathi area.

Victim Omair Ullah Wani reported that his motorcycle, bearing registration number JK06A-6107, was missing. Swift action from the Doda Police led to the registration of FIR No. 37/2025 under Section 302(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Following the FIR, SSP Doda Shri Sandeep Mehta (JKPS) directed a dedicated team led by PSI Shivam Dev Singh. Under the supervision of DySP DAR Doda and SHO Police Station Assar, the team set out to investigate the case.

By early November 6, detectives apprehended two suspects after following specific leads. The suspects confessed during questioning, revealing that they stole the motorcycle during the intervening night of October 26. The police recovered the motorcycle from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Mohd Tariq @ Baffer, a habitual offender from Katra in District Reasi, and Munish Kumar from Bali Chanalra, Bhalesa in District Doda.

According to police records, Mohd Tariq @ Baffer is a notorious offender and absconder. He is implicated in numerous criminal cases across several districts and states, including thefts and drug-related offenses. His criminal history reveals a long list of FIRs, indicating a pattern of unlawful behavior.

Some notable FIRs against him include charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He faced a general warrant of arrest per Section 512 Cr.PC from a previous court order, highlighting his elusiveness from law enforcement.

The rapid response and professionalism of the Doda Police reflect their commitment to public safety. They successfully acted not only to apprehend the suspects but also to recover stolen property swiftly.
