Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will chair a crucial Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting at Raj Bhavan in Jammu today, Friday, at 11 am. This high-profile meeting draws attention due to its focus on security and intelligence operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
The UHQ serves as the central command for security measures in J&K. During the meeting, LG Sinha will review the existing security landscape in the region, particularly concerning winter preparedness and the rising tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan.
Officials indicate that top security officers will provide briefings regarding the situation at the LoC and international borders. This comprehensive review is essential for ensuring the safety and security of the region amid ongoing challenges.
Notable attendees include the Northern Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma, Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, and Chief Secretary Atal Duloo. Heads of various paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies will also take part in this vital assessment meeting.
The previous UHQ meeting, chaired by LG Sinha in May this year, followed the successful ‘Operation Sindoor,’ which significantly impacted local security efforts. At that meeting, Sinha emphasized the need for “precise, intelligence-led operations” to dismantle terrorist networks and their support systems.
With the winter months approaching, authorities view today’s meeting as a critical step in addressing both immediate security concerns and longer-term strategies to maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir amid escalating tensions.
