Man Arrested for Threatening CM Yogi Adityanath on Social Media

Residents of Mathura are in shock as police arrested Sunit alias “Katua,” a local resident, for threatening Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath via social media. The arrest took place on Friday evening in Nagla Hardayal, where Sunit posted a disturbing video.

In the viral video, Sunit held a pistol and promised to shoot CM Yogi by September 25, further threatening to end his own life afterwards. He brandished a magazine, claiming it contained nine bullets and stated, “I will fire all nine.” His radical intentions left users stunned on various social media platforms.

Ironically, Sunit alleged he previously filed a complaint with the Chief Minister’s office but claimed no action was taken, which escalated his frustration to the point of issuing such a grave threat.

When police officers arrived at his home to make an arrest, Sunit barricaded himself inside and opened fire from the third floor. He even threatened to take his own life, causing alarm among the surrounding community. After a tense standoff lasting nearly an hour, police finally managed to overpower him and execute the arrest.

Authorities confiscated a pistol and several live cartridges from Sunit. The police indicated that Sunit had exhibited concerning behavior in recent months. Local residents noted he had displayed signs of mental distress, often voicing his personal turmoil loudly.

After the video circulated widely online, law enforcement quickly mobilized to address the situation. As a result of the incident, police are conducting investigations to ascertain how Sunit acquired the weapon and to understand the true motivation behind his threats to Chief Minister Yogi.

A case has been lodged against him under serious charges, including criminal intimidation, incitement to violence, and illegal possession of arms. The gravity of Sunit’s actions raises questions about public safety and mental health concerns in the community.

The rapid response of law enforcement serves as a reminder of the challenges faced in maintaining safety amid the growing prevalence of social media threats. With mental health issues on the rise, experts urge communities to prioritize mental wellness and support systems to prevent such alarming incidents in the future.

Authorities confirm that the investigation is ongoing and that they will provide updates as new information comes to light.
