An informative health camp was hosted by the Poshan Project Kot Bhalwal on March 1, 2025, in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission Medical Centre and Government Ayurvedic Hospital. The event celebrated the start of the 8th Rashtriya POSHAN MAAH 2025, aiming to raise awareness about health and nutrition in the community.
Key Highlights of the Event
The program, inaugurated by Sh. Sher Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner of Jammu, showcased various initiatives focused on critical health themes. Special guests, including Swami Yajnadharananda Ji and Sh. Pankaj Anand, District Programme Officer Mission POSHAN Jammu, were present to highlight the importance of nutrition.
The themes included addressing obesity, promoting local food practices, and enhancing community involvement in nutrition. Each topic underscored the need for collaborative efforts to improve health outcomes.
Engaging Activities at the Health Camp
Throughout the day, the health camp featured numerous engaging activities designed to educate attendees on essential nutrition practices. Guests enjoyed expert speeches, a ‘Swasth Balak Pratiyogita’ (healthy child competition), and interactive nutrition awareness stalls.
In addition, the camp offered free health check-ups and the distribution of Ayurvedic medicines, underscoring the dual goal of promoting both healthy practices and preventive health measures.
Importance of Nutrition in Community Health
In his address, Sh. Sher Singh emphasized that right nutrition is crucial, especially for vulnerable groups such as children and pregnant women. He urged community members to actively participate in maintaining healthy habits. Sh. Pankaj Anand echoed these sentiments, highlighting the month-long campaign of Poshan Maah as an opportunity to enhance public awareness for better health.
“We need the involvement of everyone—mothers, fathers, and the entire community,” Anand stated. “Together, we can create a healthier environment for future generations.”
Community Commitment Towards Holistic Health
Swami Yajnadharananda Ji also delivered a powerful keynote address on the holistic significance of health and nutrition in spiritual well-being. His commitment to future initiatives was a source of inspiration for attendees, who were encouraged to adopt healthy living habits.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Sh. Mohit Bharti, CDPO of Kot Bhalwal, acknowledging Ramakrishna Mission Medical Centre’s voluntary efforts and urging participants to continue spreading awareness about nutrition and health.
The Poshan Project serves a vital role in addressing community health issues, including the rise of obesity, which affects many families today. By focusing on themes such as ‘Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi’, the initiative aims to inspire a holistic approach to education and nutrition, ensuring that all community members understand the importance of healthy living.
