RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Highlights ‘Vyakti Nirman’ at Centenary Event

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday delivered a powerful speech at the annual Vijayadashami function in Nagpur, marking the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Bhagwat reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to its core mission of ‘vyakti nirman’ (character building), rejecting the allure of politics despite persistent invitations to engage.

Bhagwat addressed a large gathering of swayamsevaks, sharing insights drawn from the RSS’s century-long journey. He articulated the importance of gradual reforms in the global order, emphasising that an approach rooted in dharma—the principle connecting all—would provide a sustainable model for development.

“India must present a development model based on a holistic and integrated outlook, rooted in dharma, and offer it to the world,” Bhagwat articulated, underscoring a vision toward global leadership.

Explaining dharma, Bhagwat highlighted that it transcends mere rituals and traditions. He stated that social transformation is achievable through the embodiment of values like integrity, selflessness, and leadership—principles that the RSS seeks to instill through its shakhas.

“Over the last 100 years, the RSS has been offered temptations and invitations to participate in politics. However, the Sangh has remained focused solely on running shakhas and character-building,” he asserted, reiterating the centrality of vyakti nirman as the correct avenue for sustainable social change.

Bhagwat acknowledged India’s rich diversity of languages, faiths, lifestyles, and traditions. He encouraged citizens to view this pluralism as a strength, asserting, “All communities, including those who adopted foreign religions, are part of the larger Indian identity.” His call for harmony and mutual respect resonated strongly, as he urged society to reject violence.

Addressing the need for action against hooliganism and communal discord, Bhagwat stated that law enforcement agencies must operate without bias. He urged the youth to remain vigilant and engaged in fostering peace and harmony within society, advocating a proactive stance against any divisive actions.

His address highlighted the pivotal role the RSS plays in character building and nurturing leadership within the community, reinforcing that the organisation remains a steadfast pillar for promoting unity and integrity across the nation. As Bhagwat concluded, his message transcended the event, reverberating as a call to action for both individuals and communities towards a collective future centered on strong values.
