Delhi HC Permits Jailed MP Engineer Rashid to Visit Ailing Father

The Delhi High Court granted permission on Tuesday for jailed Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid to visit his ailing father at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). This decision came after the MP sought the court’s intervention due to his father’s serious health condition.

The court permitted the visit on humanitarian grounds, emphasizing the need for strict security measures during the movement and stay of Engineer Rashid. Authorities must ensure adequate police escort throughout the visit, underscoring the delicate nature of the circumstances.

Currently in judicial custody, Engineer Rashid submitted a plea highlighting his father’s critical condition. His father is receiving treatment at AIIMS, and the request requested temporary relief to facilitate the visit.

Taking into account the urgency of the medical situation, the High Court has specified several conditions that must be met during this visit. The court stressed the importance of adhering to security protocols, ensuring that the MP’s visit remains time-bound and supervised.

Officials will finalize further details regarding the duration of the visit and specific modalities. The court’s decision reflects a balance between the legal circumstances surrounding the MP and the pressing need for family support during times of health crisis.
