In a decisive move against drug trafficking, Srinagar Police attached immovable property valued at ₹1.20 crore linked to notorious drug peddler Nisar Ahmad Sheikh on Tuesday. This operation forms part of the ongoing 100 Days Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, aimed at combatting narcotics.
Acting under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, the Police Station Nowhatta executed the asset attachment based on FIR No. 61/2019, which involves violations detailed in Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act.
The properties attached comprise a fully renovated three-storey residential house, along with a single-storey concrete kitchen block that includes three washrooms, situated on land measuring 09 marlas.
Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, the son of Habibullah Sheikh, is a resident of Kani Dewar in Sheikh Mohallah, Hawal, Srinagar. Police investigations have indicated that this property was acquired through the proceeds of illegal drug trafficking.
The attachment highlights the unwavering commitment of Srinagar Police to dismantling the financial infrastructure supporting drug networks. Authorities emphasize that operations against drug peddlers will intensify in the coming weeks.
“We urge the public to cooperate with us by providing information regarding drug abuse or trafficking. Every piece of information is vital in our fight against narcotics,” a police official stated.
This action aligns with Jammu & Kashmir’s broader strategy to achieve a drug-free society. The Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan aims to not only disrupt drug operations but also to rehabilitate those affected by substance abuse.
The campaign reflects a significant commitment to public health and safety, addressing the alarming rise of drug-related issues in the region. As the police enhance their efforts, community involvement will play a crucial role in fostering a safer environment.
Authorities assured citizens that collective action will lead to a significant reduction in narcotic activities, thereby ensuring the well-being of the youth and society at large.
